Tea Country - Shillong, Meghalaya, India

I spent my teen-age years in Shillong. Shillong in the 1950s was still considered as being in Assam. Now, it's Meghalaya, India. My high school buddies and I would hang out over cups of tea and dosas at local restaurants. We were not allowed to go to clubs so the only place we could really sit around and talk was in an Indiana or Chinese restaurant. We enjoyed drinking tea, a beverage enjoyed by all. I spent many years in Shillong; as a small child, as teenager and briefly as an adult. The beauty of this place is etched in my mind so whenever I miss it, I know, all I have to do is, close my eyes and picture it. So many memories come to mind especially enjoying family picnics in Cheerapunjee and Upper Shillong. We often shopped in Police Bazaar and Bara Bazaar. If you ever to travel to Shillong, you will not regret it.
