Scotland of the East
As many know, Shillong is considered "the Scotland of the East." As a young girl growing up in Shillong, we wore a lot of plaid in the winter but during the summer, we loved to wear summery dresses. My mother would sew identical dresses for me as well as for my best friend whenever she would sleep over. At one point, Denim "pedal pushers" were a craze and very popular.
